Linda Toscano, Scott Zeron, Chris Wittstruck, Andrew Harris, Richard Munk to Host the “ABC’s of Owning a Harness Racehorse” Saturday, September 24, at Yonkers Raceway

Yonkers Raceway and the Standardbred Owners Association of New York will present a seminar on owning a harness racehorse featuring driver Scott Zeron, trainers Linda Toscano and Andrew Harris,  SOA director Chris Wittstruck, and Funky Munky Stable managing partner Richard Munk at 4:30 PM on Saturday, September 24.

The one-hour event will be held prior to the $1.8 million Night of New York Champions in the “Red Room” on the second floor of Empire City Casino, and will feature a discussion on the rewards and risks of owning a Standardbred racehorse.

Hire a Hero Initiative – Empire City Casino & Yonkers Department of Veterans Services to Host Veterans Job Fair

Empire City Casino is teaming up with the City of Yonkers Department of Veterans Services to host a “Hire a Hero” job fair for area employers and service men and women returning from overseas looking to re-enter the workforce.

The veterans-only job fair will take place in the third floor Good Time Room at Empire City Casino on Thursday, November 17th from 1pm-6pm.

Empire City will underwrite the cost of the job fair for hiring employers to encourage businesses of all sizes to participate. The men and women who have bravely served in our armed forces will have the opportunity to network, interview and engage with employers from all sectors of industryAmong the employers already signed up include Home Depot, ShopRite Supermarket, Con Ed, Merrill Lunch, Liberty Lines, Sears, Metro North, the Yonkers Fire Department and the Yonkers Police Department.

Merril Hoge, ESPN Analyst & Former Pittsburgh Steelers Running Back, To Host Monday Night Football Viewing Party at Empire City Casino’s Dan Rooney’s Sports Bar

Dan Rooney’s Sports Bar at Empire City Casino is an “Official Pittsburgh Steelers Bar.” So, who better to kick off the opening Monday night game of the NFL season featuring the Steelers vs. Washington Red Skins on September 12 than ESPN football analyst and former Pittsburgh running back Merril Hoge.

A veteran of eight seasons in the NFL and longtime football commentator, Hoge will meet and greet fans at the popular sports bar. Hoge will pose for photographs with fans and sign autographs outside Dan Rooney’s from 6:15 to 7:00 pm prior to the game, and be on hand to watch the action until 8:45 pm.


The lights and cameras may not start rolling on the Yonkers Film Festival (YoFiFest) until October, but the action begins at Empire City Casino this Friday night at 7 p.m. with a special kick-off party to announce the 100+ films selected for this year’s festival among thousands of submissions, including from local filmmakers.
