The Art Rooney Pace remembers the venerable Hall of Fame founder of the Pittsburgh Steelers annually at Yonkers Raceway, and this year’s 26th edition will gather the eight top three-year-olds in training on Saturday night, May 28, for a purse of $300,000.
Empire City Casino’s historic half-mile harness racing oval will salute “The Chief” with a pair of promotions paying homage to the Rooney Family patriarch. The first 2,000 Empire Club members (one per member while supplies last) to visit a promotions booth beginning at 4:00pm will receive a custom commemorative Art Rooney Key Chain, depicting Mr. Rooney smoking his omnipresent cigar.
Empire City Casino continues to go to extremes to enhance the experience for its players at the premier gaming destination closest to New York City. The Yonkers-based casino installed new dynamic “Wheel of Fortune Triple Extreme Spin” slots last week at the Entertainment Lounge area in the Gotham Palace.
“The Wheel of Fortune Extreme Spin slots are as exciting to watch as they are to play, and bring a fresh spin to our games,” said vice president of marketing Ryan Murphy. “We now have over 100 games with the wildly-popular Wheel of Fortune theme, and the new slots bring even more excitement to the casino floor.”
The Kentucky Derby may have turned out as predicted with heavily favored Nyquist winning the kick-off to the Triple Crown season, but Bethenny Frankel’s choice for top hat at Empire City Casino’s annual “Fancy Derby Hat Contest” was not an easy one. The Real Housewives of NY star and Skinnygirl founder hosted the Kentucky Derby Day festivities at the casino and historic raceway in Yonkers, New York.
